Springfield Connectivity Plan Amendment
On January 12, 2010, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved the Springfield Connectivity Plan Amendment (S09-CW-3CP).
The Plan Amendment modifies the Comprehensive Plan to incorporate a number of recommendations developed through the Springfield Connectivity Study, published in 2008. The Plan Amendment covers 800 acres of the greater Springfield area, including all of the Commercial Revitalization District (CRD).
The Plan Amendment allows for more intense, mixed-use development within the CBC providing greater incentives for smart growth and redevelopment. As previously mentioned, the Plan Amendment incorporates a number of the Connectivity Study’s recommendations relating to transportation improvements, increasing connectivity between the areas of Springfield, upgrading non-motorized transportation movements, urban design guidelines, and placemaking recommendations.
